With a suspension fork, it is overall much smoother. My MCR with steel rigid fork is smooth and doesn't require a suspension fork.
IMO the Air is faster but requires a suspension fork. The MCR is flexy but very comfy. The One is my fastest combo but the Sir niner sir 9 the Niner Carbon fork is the most fun.
The One is more compliant than most aluminum bikes but nothing compairs with steel for shock absorbtion on the trails except for possibly some very expensive carbon frames.
